On Saturday, both the Oklahoma men and women will compete in the 2025 NCAA Gymnastics Championships finals with a good chance of bringing home a pair of national championship trophies to Norman.

The No. 2 Sooner women are the highest seed of the four teams in the women's final being held in Fort Worth, Texas. Meanwhile, their OU male counterparts are the top seed in the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships and are one of six teams that qualified on Friday to compete for the national title on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Both Sooners gymnastics teams make national finals

Led by senior Jordan Bowers, the all-around champion in this year's NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships, the Oklahoma women will go after what would be their third national title in the last four seasons and seventh overall. But they will have to get by No. 4 Utah, winner of the second qualifying session on Thursday, No. 5 UCLA and No. 7 Missouri.

In addition to OU, which is seeking its 13th national title in men's gymnastics, the other five teams vying for this year's national championship is like a rogue's row of the best the country has to offer. Joining the Sooners in the finals are No. 2 Michigan, No. 3 Stanford, No. 4 Nebraska, No. 5 Penn State and No. 6 Illinois.

The Oklahoma men finished second to Nebraska in Friday's semifinal session, but Sooner head coach Mark Williams, who has guided OU to nine of its 12 national championships in his 25 years at the helm and 10 national runner-up finishes, says his team will be ready to go on Saturday.

"The goal was to qualify, and we did that," Williams said in his post-meet comments on Friday. "We certainly could do better on pommel horse, and we'll put together our best lineup for (Saturday) night."

The Sooner women are hoping to return to the top spot on the podium since going back-to-back in 2022 and 2023. OU missed out on the finals last season in its quest for a three-peat, finishing sixth overall. The OU men last won a national championship in gymnastics in 2018, the last of four consecutive national titles.

The men are currently tied with Penn State for the most NCAA championships in gymnastics.

Both Oklahoma squads will have to be at their best on championship Saturday to pull off the rare historic feat of capturing dual national titles in the same sport in the same year. In NCAA gymnastics, that has been accomplished just twice before, in 2016 and 2017, and both times it was by Oklahoma.

The women's championship will be decided first on Saturday. "Four on the Floor" is taking place at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, at 3 p.m. CT. on ABC.

Several hours later, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the men's championship will get underway. That championship will also be nationally televised on ESPN2 at 5:30 p.m. CT.
