Another rather unknown name from Oklahoma's football roster is leaving the program.

Sooners offensive lineman Josh Aisosa, a redshirt freshman, announced via X on Friday that he plans on entering the transfer portal during this spring cycle. He will still have four years of eligibility left.

Sooners OL Josh Aisosa entering transfer portal

Like almost every other OU player to enter the transfer portal so far this spring, Aisosa never saw the field for the Sooners during his lone season in Norman. He redshirted last year after joining the program from the 2024 class.

Aisosa, listed at 6-foot-3 and 331 pounds, was a three-star recruit from nearby Santa Fe High School in Edmond, Oklahoma. On3 ranked him as high as the No. 52 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 class and No. 8 overall player in the state of Oklahoma.

He chose OU over other offers from Iowa State, North Texas, Tulsa and others, so Aisosa should get an opportunity elsewhere.

Aisosa was likely another causality of the Sooners needing to trim their roster and keeping it at the looming new 105-player limit. He's the sixth player OU has lost this spring, but so far, none ever got valuable playing time with the Sooners.

The losses include three defensive backs with little to no playing time, a possibly promising young tight end who was missing practice and the No. 5 running back on the depth chart.

The Sooners have made two additions so far this spring in Stanford offensive lineman Jake Maikkula and No. 1 available running back Jaydn Ott, which likely forced Sam Franklin's departure.

The transfer portal closes on April 25 and won't open again until after next season in December.
