The Oklahoma Sooners are trying to get one of their biggest needs on their football roster with a bonus.

Former BYU wide receiver and kick returner Keelan Marion announced via X on Saturday an OU offer from the transfer portal.

Former BYU receiver Keelan Marion announces offer from Sooners

Marion will presumably have one year of eligibility left as a junior after four years of college football already. He started his career at UConn for two years before spending the last two seasons at BYU.

Last season, Marion, listed at 6-foot, had 24 catches for 346 yards and a touchdown. His best statistical season as a receiver was his freshman campaign at UConn, during which he had 28 receptions, 474 yards and five TDs. All were career-highs.

Marion is also a weapon on special teams as an All-American return specialist and last year's Big 12 Kick Returner of the Year. He had 472 return yards and two scores on 18 kickoff returns last season. He also had five rushing touchdowns during his time with BYU, showing off even more versatility.

So far since entering the transfer portal for the third time on Friday, Marion has also announced offers from Kentucky, Arkansas, Miami, Arizona State and SMU during the first full day he was available on Saturday.

The Sooners certainly need to add another receiver during this short spring transfer cycle, however, the options are limited. OU has also reportedly been after Illinois State transfer receiver Xavier Loyd.

So far this spring, new general manager Jim Nagy and OU have landed two players from the transfer portal. The Sooners announced the signings of Stanford offensive lineman Jake Maikkula and Cal running back Jaydn Ott at the same time on Tuesday evening.

Ott, the No. 1 running back in the transfer portal, is also dangerous as a return man like Marion.

The transfer portal closes on Friday and won't open again until December after the college football regular season.
