Oklahoma shortstop Gabbie Garcia is the SEC Softball Co-Freshman of the Week, the third SEC weekly honor she has received this season.
Garcia shared the award this week with Ella McDowell, a freshman third baseman for Arkansas. Garcia was named Freshman of the Week on March 11, and a week later she was honored as SEC Softball Player of the Week.

The Sooner shortstop batted .800 for the week, collecting eight hits in 10 plate appearances.
Garcia started the week going 3-for-3, all two-base hits, in the Sooners' 13-2 midweek win over the University of Texas-Arlington. It was the ninth time in OU softball history that a Sooner player hit three doubles in the same game.
She continued her hot hitting with another three-hit game in a 12-4 win over St. Thomas two days later, including another double. She then enjoyed a third consecutive multi-hit game, stroking a couple of singles as Oklahoma shut out UCF 6-0 on Friday.
For the season, Garcia is the second-leading hitter in the Sooner lineup with a .420 batting average. The left-handed hitter from Chandler, Arizona, is second on the team with 42 hits and is tied for the team lead in home runs with 11.
Garcia and the Sooners are scheduled to play four games this week. They will renew the Bedlam rivalry in softball with a game against Oklahoma State on Wednesday in Oklahoma City and travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for an important three-game weekend series with the No. 23 Crimson Tide.
