For just one time this regular season, there's Bedlam on the softball field.

With the Oklahoma Sooners leaving the Big 12 for the SEC, there's no longer a three-game conference Bedlam series between OU and the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. However, Patty Gasso and Kenny Gajewski did still manage to keep Bedlam alive in softball, even if for one night only.

The Sooners and Cowgirls will meet for a neutral midweek matchup Wednesday night at a sold-out Devon Park in Oklahoma City, home of the Women's College World Series. However, as both teams have WCWS aspirations, there's also a possibility there's Bedlam again in the postseason, even at the same venue.

Sooners and Cowgirls meet for only scheduled Bedlam softball

It will be a top-20 matchup between the No. 3 Sooners and No. 18 Cowgirls. OU is 31-3, while OSU comes in at 21-9 after dropping a series to Arizona last weekend. The Sooners are riding a three-game winning streak.

The Sooners lead the all-time series 104-74, but the Cowgirls have recently narrowed the margin between the two programs, including taking two of three games in the final Bedlam softball series last season.

Such a matchup, especially with just one showing, deserves a primetime slot on national television, which is what Bedlam earned.
