vs. Auburn
This will be Jackson Arnold's return to Norman. But unlike the last time a former quarterback returned for an SEC opener, this one will go the Sooners' way. A bad OU football team was still better than Auburn last season on the road (a game which Arnold was on the bench), and Arnold certainly isn't enough to change that a year later.
Oklahoma 31, Auburn 20
vs. Kent State
The game itself won't seem like much, but it will catapult the Sooners to 5-0 and set up a monstrous Red River Rivalry between potentially two undefeated teams.
Oklahoma 59, Kent State 3
vs Texas (in Dallas)
This will be the game of the week around the country. It's already one of the biggest rivalries in sports, but it could also feature two undefeated teams and a pair of Heisman candidates at quarterback. The winner comes out a College Football Playoff favorite and a Heisman frontrunner.
This could be the moment we look back on that saved Brent Venables' job.
Oklahoma 30, Texas 28
at South Carolina
The SEC giveth, and the SEC taketh. After the biggest win of the Venables era, the Sooners will get their first reality check of 2025. Teams just don't go perfect with the schedule OU has coming.
South Carolina also has a future Heisman candidate at quarterback and home-field advantage.
South Carolina 27, Oklahoma 24
vs. Ole Miss
Ole Miss has a lot of holes to fill, but Lane Kiffin is one of the best at reloading. Unfortunately for the Sooners, they get Ole Miss later in the season when the Rebels could have things figured out by then.
However, the Sooners will be looking to bounce back and be back in Norman for the first time in two weeks.
