The Temple Owls will host Oklahoma on Saturday in a college football game to be played at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the reigning Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles.

Temple is one of five college programs that hold its home games at NFL stadiums. Affectionately known to locals simply as "The Linc," Lincoln Financial Field has been where Temple has played its home football games since 2003. The Linc holds around 68,000, but Temple averaged 13,919 fans last season. That's down from a five-year average attendance of around 22,000 fans.

Playing in an NFL Stadium is not really that unusual for Oklahoma. Saturday will be the 11th different NFL stadium the Sooners have played games in -- a total of 40 games over the last 59 years. OU has played in several NFL venues multiple times, but this will be their first time at Lincoln Financial Field and only their second-ever trip to the city of Philadelphia.

The Sooners are 23-17 overall in NFL stadiums

Here is a list of the other NFL stadiums Oklahoma has played in and the results:

AT&T Stadium (6-2)

Oklahoma has a 6-2 record playing at the home of the Dallas Cowboys. Five of the six wins were in Big 12 championship games (2010, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020). The Sooners lost in the 2009 season-opener against BYU played at AT&T Stadium. They lost to Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M in the 2012 Cotton Bowl, but defeated Florida in the 2020 Cotton Bowl.

Hard Rock Stadium (1-5)

The Sooners have not done well when playing at what is now Hard Rock Stadium, where the Miami Dolphins play. Oklahoma is 1-5 at that venue, with the one win coming in the 2000 BCS national championship game, a 13-2 victory over Florida State. The Sooners played in two other BCS national championship game at Hard Rock Stadium -- losing to USC in 2005 and Florida in 2009 -- as well as a couple of the College Football Playoff games against Clemson in 2015 and Alabama in 2018.

The only regular-season game Oklahoma has played at Hard Rock Stadium was in 2009, a 21-20 loss to Miami.

Orange Bowl (7-3)

From 1966 to 1995, the Miami Dolphins played in the Orange Bowl. During that time, the Sooners played in 10 postseason bowl games at the old Orange Bowl, winning seven of them, including a pair of national championships (14-6 over Michigan in 1976 and 25-10 over Penn State in 1986).

Arrowhead Stadium (4-1)

Oklahoma played in five Big 12 Championships held at the Kansas City Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium. The Sooners won four of the five Big 12 title games they participated in at Arrowhead in 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2008. In 2003, Kansas State pulled off a stunning upset, knocking off top-ranked and undefeated Oklahoma, 35-7.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium (0-1)

Oklahoma came up on the losing end in the only game it has played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons. The Sooners lost to eventual national champion LSU in the national semifinals of the 2019 College Football Playoff, 63-28, suffering one of the worst postseason scoring deficits in their history.

Soldier Field (0-1)

In Oklahoma's only game at Soldier Field in Chicago, home of the Chicago Bears, the Sooners failed to score in a 24-0 loss to Northwestern in the 1997 season opener.

Paul Brown Stadium (1-0)

A 2010 nonconference game between Oklahoma and Cincinnati was played at what was then Paul Brown Stadium, home of the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals. The Sooners prevailed in a close game, 31-29. That stadium has since been renamed Paycor Stadium.

State Farm Stadium (1-2)

Oklahoma has played in three Fiesta Bowls, losing two of the three. The Fiesta Bowl is held in Glendale, Arizona, at what is now State Farm Stadium. The Sooners lost in successive years -- 2007 to Boise State and 2008 to West Virginia -- but defeated UConn in 2010.

NRG Stadium (1-1)

The Sooners are 1-1 in two games played at NRG Stadium (formerly Reliant Stadium), home of the Houston Texans. In 2002, Oklahoma defeated Colorado to win the Big 12 championship, and in 2016, the Sooners lost on the road, 33-13, in the season-opening game for both teams.

Superdome (2-0)

Oklahoma has made two appearances in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, both were as participants in the Sugar Bowl. In 2013, Oklahoma defeated Alabama 45-31 in 2014 and beat Auburn 35-19 in 2017. The venue serves as the home field of the New Orleans Saints. Caesars currently has the naming rights to the Superdome.
