Nine of Oklahoma's 12 football opponents in the 2025 season had weighty winning records last season and half of them finished among the nation's top-25 teams. Those factors alone support the rationale for the severe test Oklahoma will face again this coming season in playing one of the most difficult schedules in all of college football.
The combined record of the dozen teams that make up the Sooners' regular-season schedule this coming season is 96-61, a .611 winning percentage. In terms of Oklahoma's all-time record, though, against its 12 opponents, the Sooners are a collective 134-99-11 (.551).
OU plays perilous 2025 schedule, but own all-time winning mark against 8 of the teams
The Sooners have a winning record in the all-time series with eight of the 12 teams on the 2025 schedule, but there is a rub. The all-time series with eight of the teams is four or fewer games in length and four of those is one game or fewer. Oklahoma opens the 2025 season at home on Aug. 30 against Illinois State out of the Missouri Valley Conference. This will be the first meeting ever between the Sooners and the Redbirds.
Oklahoma has a losing all-time record against three of its 2025 opponents, the largest margin of which is against Red River rival Texas (51-64-5), although the Sooners are 17-9 against their chief rivals since 2000. OU is winless in two games all-time against Ole Miss and 1-3 in games with LSU.
The Sooners do have a sizable winning advantage against longtime Big 12 foe Missouri (67-25-5 .722), including wins in eight of the last 10 meetings. Mizzou has won two of the last three, however, including 30-23 last season at Missouri.
Here's another scary statistic to consider when contemplating the 2025 Oklahoma schedule: Eight of the 12 times won nine or more games last season.
