Oklahoma and the nation's highest-scoring softball offense heads out on the road this weekend for its first-ever trip to Oxford, Mississippi, for a three-game series against the Rebels of Ole Miss.
The two teams will play on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, with the No. 4 Sooners (29-2, 3-0) seeking their second consecutive SEC series sweep after winning three games at home over Auburn last weekend.
OU and Ole Miss (20-11, 0-6) have met just six times previously on the softball diamond, and the Sooners have won all six. Four of those game were in Norman. This is the first time the two teams have played in Oxford.
The game times for the three games between Oklahoma and Ole Miss are 2 p.m. CT on Saturday and 6 p.m. for Sunday and Monday. Saturday afternoon's series opener will be streamed on SEC Network+. The games on both Saturday and Sunday will be televised on SEC Network.
What to know about Ole Miss
Ole Miss is 0-6 in conference play, losing consecutive series to Alabama and Texas. The Rebels are 4-6 over their last 10 games, with the four wins all coming in midweek contests against weaker nonconference opponents.
The Rebels rank 11th in the SEC in hitting, averaging 6.2 runs per game, batting .310 as a team and with 39 home runs (80 fewer, however, than Oklahoma's nation-leading 119). Their leading hitter is freshman outfielder Madi George with a .417 batting average, nine home runs and 28 runs batted in. The pitching staff ranks 13th in the conference with a staff ERA of 3.45 and a .240 opponents' batting average.
Defense has been a key this season in the games Ole Miss has won. The Rebels are 12-2 when they do not make an error and just 7-9 when they commit one or more miscues in the field.
Senior utility player Taylor Roman has been on a tear in conference play. She is batting .400 with two home runs, a double and six RBI in six SEC games.
What to know about Oklahoma
Oklahoma has hit a nation-best 119 home runs in 31 games. That is more than 131 Division-I teams have scored in runs this season. The Sooners hit a total of 121 home runs last season, which was the fourth most in a season in OU history. The NCAA record for home runs in a season is 161, set in 2021 by Oklahoma.
The Sooners' explosive offense has score four or more runs in 40 innings this season and at least five home runs in 12 of 32 games.
Oklahoma continues to lead all of college softball in batting average (.452), hits (392), runs (401), home runs (119), runs per game (12.9), on-base percentage (.541) and slugging percentage (119).
OU freshman outfielder Kai Minor, the top 2025 recruit in the nation, leads all freshmen with a .525 batting average. She has 14 multiple-hit games in 28 games this season.
