It's been a perfect start to spring for the Oklahoma Sooners.
The OU baseball and softball teams are both still undefeated into March. The two teams are a combined 30-0 so far after another unbeaten weekend from both in Norman.
No other Division-I athletic department in the country still has its baseball and softball team undefeated.
Patty Gasso's softball team has climbed to No. 1 in the country while getting through the first four weeks of the season unscathed at 19-0. The Sooners just went 5-0 in the Oklahoma Omni Classic this past weekend at Love's Field.
OU softball run-ruled every opponent it had, beating Kansas and Marshall twice before finishing the weekend with Kansas City on Sunday.
That undefeated record is about to get more fragile for the Sooners, though. This weekend, they start their first-ever slate in the SEC with a home series against No. 21 South Carolina. The Sooners and Gamecocks (19-0) are the last two undefeated teams left in college softball.
OU has beaten only one ranked opponent to this point in the then-No. 24 Baylor Bears.
However, the OU baseball team already upset a pair of top-10 teams two weeks ago at the Round Rock Classic in Texas. The Sooners knocked off then-No. 7 Oregon State before beating then-No. 2 Virginia in 12 innings.
Through three weeks, the No. 13 Sooners are 11-0 after sweeping CSUN this past weekend at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
The Sooners are one of eight undefeated college baseball teams left, joining Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida State, West Virginia and Murray State.
This is OU's best start ever under Skip Johnson in his eighth season. It's also the Sooners' longest win streak to begin a season since starting 16-0 in 2011.
Next, the Sooners travel for a midweek game against a dangerous No. 21 Dallas Baptist on Tuesday. The Patriots are 8-3 but still a perfect 6-0 at home, so something will have to give in Dallas.
OU's week then concludes with a weekend series against Sam Houston in Norman.
