In what's become an annual tradition, the Oklahoma women's basketball team is going dancing.
The Sooners on Selection Sunday were announced as a No. 4 seed in the Sacramento 4 Region of the 2026 NCAA Tournament. It's the 26th time the program has made the Big Dance and fifth time under head coach Jennie Baranczyk, who has led OU to the NCAA Tournament every season in charge so far.
As a top-4 seed, the Sooners earned the right to host the first two rounds at Lloyd Noble Center for the second year in a row. The Norman Region will also include No. 5 Michigan State, No. 12 Colorado State and No. 13 Idaho.
The Sooners will tip off tournament action on Friday night against Idaho, which just won the Big Sky championship and tallied a program-record 29 wins this season. Michigan State and Colorado State will meet in the other first-round matchup, with the winner of both meeting to play for a spot in the Sweet 16 in Sacremento, California.
Led by freshman phenom Aaliyah Chavez, who was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2025 class, the Sooners went 24-7 overall this season and 11-5 in SEC play. OU was definitely battle-tested as all of its losses came against ranked teams, which will only benefit the young squad throughout March Madness.
The Norman Region will tip off Friday night, with the Sooners getting the very last game of the day for the entire NCAA Tournament. The winner of the first-round matchups will then play on Sunday.
