Multiple recruiting experts have already predicted consensus four-star safety Jaylen Scott to ultimately commit to the Oklahoma Sooners' 2027 recruiting class, and on Friday, that projection took a step toward reality.

Scott on Friday revealed his top 5 choices for his college home, including OU, Tennessee, Georgia, Miami and Florida State. It seems Scott is taking his time with this decision after already being committed twice before to Florida State and Auburn.

Jaylen Scott includes Sooners in top 5

OU head coach Brent Venables, along with defensive assistants Brandon Hall and Todd Bates, just visited Scott at his high school on Tuesday. According to Parker Thune of On3 and Rivals, Scott will be in Norman next on March 7. That will be his first reported visit to Oklahoma.

It was a busy week for Scott, though, as he was looking to narrow his options. Scott also had visits this week from Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, new Auburn head coach Alex Golesh, Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann and Miami defensive backs coach Zac Etheridge.

Apparently Bama and Auburn sending their headmen wasn't enough to make the cut for the in-state product from nearby Mobile.

Florida State is in the mix again after Scott initially committed to the Seminoles early in January 2025. He then flipped to Auburn in June, but decommitted again in December because of the Tigers' coaching change. Scott's recruitment has really ramped up since that decision.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Scott is the No. 16 safety in the 2027 class and No. 153 overall prospect. He's also the No. 5 overall player in the state of Alabama, where the Sooners have been recruiting hard recently and have even developed the hashtag "#BamaSooners" on X, which is even more satisfying when it's a recruit SEC foes Crimson Tide and Tigers were also after but failed to land.

Scott would be the first safety committed to the Sooners' 2027 class, but third addition to their future secondary after cornerbacks Mikhail McCreary and Mikyal Davis. Other defenders already in the group includes four-star linebacker Taven Epps, four-star edge rusher Krew Jones, four-star defensive tackle Elija Harmon and three-star defensive tackle Deven Robertson.
