Everything is looking to be in the favor of Brent Venables and his Oklahoma staff to add yet another top defender to their already loaded 2027 recruiting class.
Multiple recruiting experts, including Sam Spiegelman and Chad Simmons of Rivals, have recently logged predictions for consensus four-star safety Jaylen Scott to commit to the Sooners soon.
4-star safety Jaylen Scott predicted to choose Sooners
Venables, as well as defensive assistants Brandon Hall and Todd Bates, just visited Scott at his high school on Tuesday. The next day, Simmons logged his prediction for Scott to end up being a Sooner. Since then, though, Scott has also had visits from Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann and Miami defensive backs coach Zac Etheridge.

Scott initially committed to Florida State early in January 2025. He then flipped to Auburn in June, but decommitted again in December because of the Tigers' coaching change.
Since decommitting from Auburn, Scott has picked up offers from Georgia, Florida, Vanderbilt and Kentucky just during the month of January. He also has offers from Arkansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Tennessee and more.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Scott is the No. 16 safety in the 2027 class and No. 153 overall prospect. Scott, from Mobile, is also the No. 5 overall player in the state of Alabama, where the Sooners have been recruiting hard recently and have even developed the hashtag "#BamaSooners" on X. Three-star receiver Tra'Von Hall from Alabama has already joined the Sooners' 2027 class.
Scott would be the first safety committed to the Sooners' 2027 class, but third addition to their future secondary after cornerbacks Mikhail McCreary and Mikyal Davis. Other defenders already in the group includes four-star linebacker Taven Epps, four-star edge rusher Krew Jones, four-star defensive tackle Elija Harmon and three-star defensive tackle Deven Robertson.
