The Oklahoma Sooners are making some early moves for their 2027 recruiting class.

Krew Jones, a top defensive end from the 2027 class, recently announced a loaded top 12 that included OU, Ohio State, Oregon, Florida State, Nebraska, USC, Washington, BYU, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas A&M and USC. It's still considered early for a top recruit to already announce a top group, but this definitely has the Sooners in a good spot early.

Jones is a consensus four-star edge rusher out of Ridgeline High School in Millville, Utah. According to the 247Sports Composite, Jones is the No. 18 edge rusher in the 2027 class and No. 138 overall prospect in the country. Jones, listed at 6-foot-5 and 218 pounds, is also the top recruit in the state of Utah, meaning in-state BYU will be pushing hard to keep him home.

As a sophomore last season, Jones, already a two-year starter, tallied 93 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 14 quarterback hurries, six forced fumbles and six defended passes in 13 games. He also plays wide receiver, catching 12 passes for 206 yards and three TDs. He also had a rushing TD.

The Sooners just recently shifted focus toward the 2027 class while still adding to the 2026 class. After hiring Jim Nagy as general manager in February, OU got a late start on a lot of top 2026 targets, but so far, the Sooners have been out front for some top recruits in the 2027 class.
