We'll soon know if Kaydin Jones will follow in his father's footsteps.

Jones, son of former Oklahoma running Kejuan Jones, announced he will make his commitment known next week at 4 p.m. CT March 26 at his high school.

Also like his dad, Jones has emerged as a top running back recruit at Jenks High School in Oklahoma. Every major recruiting service ranks Jones as a top-5 overall prospect in the state.

Rivals ranks Jones as the seventh-best running back in the entire 2026 class. On3 and 247Sports also rank him inside the top 25. Everyone but 247Sports gave Jones four stars, while 247Sports lists him as a three-star recruit.

Last season as a junior, Jones rushed for 814 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 5.5 yards a carry, according to MaxPreps, in only eight games at the highest level of high school football in Oklahoma. His best season came as a freshman, though, when he ran for 1,264 yards and 11 TDs, averaging 7.3 yards an attempt. His FBS offers started pouring in after that.

As a legacy recruit, OU was one of Jones' first major offers in June 2023. The Sooners have an obvious advantage over other schools also after Jones because of the connection.

In January, Jones narrowed down his choices to OU, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Louisville. However, Bedlam rival Oklahoma State has made an almost desperate push for Jones recently, and he visited Stillwater last week. OSU had offered Jones the same month OU did, but Jones did not include the Cowboys in his final five, or even his top 11.

Jones' other offers included Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Oregon, SMU, Texas A&M, Utah and others.
