Is some big news coming for the Oklahoma Sooners this week? That's what fans are hoping for, with Brent Venables soldily in the mix for a standout 4-star wideout. In this case, we're talking about speedster Mason James, who's all set to announce his decision on Thursday.

There's pressure on Venables to come out on top here, as not only is James an in-state prospect, but he's a playmaker for Norman North, a stone's throw away from the OU campus. There are plenty of teams in the mix, though, which has some people nervous. How will things shape out?

This isn't going to be easy for Oklahoma, as Missouri, Texas, Washington, Kansas State and Arizona State are the other finalists hoping that James announces in their favor. Unfortunately, though, a 247Sports prediction just came in for Washington to land his verbal.

This would be a major disappointment for Venables if things go down this way. Last weekend, Mason took his official visit to Washington and now he's getting ready to shut down his recruitment? He has an OV with Oklahoma scheduled for June 20, but who knows if he'll take that trip or not.

With Mason on the verge of making his decision, a lot of signs are pointing in the favor of Washington. It would be a huge get for the Big Ten powerhouse, but it would most definitely be a setback for the Sooners. Soon enough, we'll find out what Mason decides.

According to the 247Sports Composite, he's ranked four stars, the No. 36 WR in the country and the No. 2 prospect overall from Oklahoma. Venables and the Sooners would hate to see him commit elsewhere, but this is something OU fans may need to prepare themselves for.
