There could, or at least should, be a homecoming brewing in the Transfer Portal.
The Field of 68 reported on Tuesday that Davidson guard Parker Friedrichsen, who's originally from Bixby, Oklahoma, plans to enter the Transfer Portal once it officially opens on Tuesday, April 7. The Sooners initially missed on Friedrichsen out of high school, so this could be Porter Moser's last chance to finally get him in crimson and cream.
Bixby's Parker Friedrichsen could be the quiet shooter the Sooners need out of Transfer Portal
Moser was part of trying to get Friedrichsen to Norman out of Bixby in 2023. The Sooners were consistently in the mix, but Friedrichsen initially committed to Oklahoma State, then even signed with Notre Dame before ultimately ending up at Wake Forest.
Friedrichsen spent just one season at Davidson before heading into the portal for the second time. He started his career at Wake Forest for the first two years of his college basketball career. He appeared in 66 games at Wake Forest, but never really broke out while making only six starts in two seasons.
At Davidson, though, Friedrichsen started all but one game this season as a junior. His numbers weren't staggering at the mid-major level with 10.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists a game, but there are some overlooked numbers that prove his potential value to the Sooners.
Listed at 6-foot-4, Friedrichsen adds great length to the outside and plays solid defense, but most importantly, he could be a sharp-shooter for the Sooners off the bench that could come at a value price. He shot an impressive 42% from the field this season and 40.5% from three-point range. He's a career 35.9% three-pointer shooter thanks to a lackluster 2024-25 bringing his numbers down.

The Sooners will lose guard Nijel Pack, who leads OU with 16.5 points a game and 113 three-point makes. No other player on OU's roster has made more than 60 three-pointers this season.
Obviously Friedrichsen cannot replace Pack and the Sooners should go spend big to fill that role, but Friedrichsen will be the needed three-point threat off the bench that they lack this season. He won't need to shoot a lot, but could be effective when needed. The lack of depth in general was a disappointment this season, so OU has to look at talent like Friedrichsen to avoid the same issue next season.
