Oklahoma head coach Jennie Baranczyk has the Sooners right in the mix for one of the most coveted players in the Transfer Portal.
On3's Talia Goodman reported on Wednesday that Iowa State transfer forward Addy Brown has set three visits after reportedly entering the portal with a "do not contact" tag, then SoonerScoop's George Stoia later confirmed that one of Brown's trips will be to Oklahoma. Brown will also visit Vanderbilt and Notre Dame.
Sooners in mix for Iowa State stars Addy Brown and Audi Crooks to pair with Aaliyah Chavez
An injury hampered Brown's junior campaign this past season, but even her totals taking a dip while missing 11 games included 11.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists a game. As a sophomore, she averaged 15.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists a game while earning All-Big 12 Second-Team honors. She was also named to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team in 2024.
Even as a 6-foot-2 forward, Brown can also shoot a little bit as a career 36.7% three-point shooter. She made 52 from beyond the arc as a freshman, but her total has decreased each season since with 46 in 2024-25 and 25 in her injury-riddled season. Regardless, the ability is there and makes Brown ever more dangerous all over the court.
Brown is part of a mass exodus at Iowa State that Baranczyk is trying to take advantage of. Brown's teammate, center Audi Crooks, is the top player available in the portal. The Sooners are also after Crooks as they try to replace center Raegan Beers. Crooks, listed at 6-foot-3, was second in the country in scoring this season with 25.8 points a game while shooting 64.9% from the floor and averaging 7.7 rebounds.
Raiding Iowa State, which went 22-10 this past season, would immediately benefit the Sooners down low and add more weapons for returning star point guard Aaliyah Chavez. And if Baranczyk lands just one of the former Cyclones, then there's bait to lure the other, plus the fact the Sooners have made it to the Sweet 16 the past two years.
