So far for the 2027 class, things have been downright sensational for Oklahoma and Brent Venables. Just recently, excitement reached a new level, as Oklahoma was able to hold off multiple other powerhouses to grab the verbal pledge of 5-star linebacker Cooper Witten.

Well, is more good news on the way coming soon? For a little while, Venables and his staff have been making a serious push to land 4-star safety Jaylen Scott. The Sooners are among the finalists, but some new hope to win out has arrived. That's because a new prediction has come in via On3/Rivals for Scott to give Venables the news he's been hoping for:

4-star DB Jaylen Scott has been predicted to commit to Oklahoma and Brent Venables

We don't have to tell you that this would be an incredible get for the Sooners if Venables get things over the line. As things stand, the 6-0, 165-pounder is down to a Top 5 of Oklahoma, Tennessee, Miami, Florida State and Georgia.

LSU put an offer on the table recently, but it looks like Lane Kiffin was too late to the party. It's important to keep in mind here that Scott is going to be in Norman for the 'Future Freaks Weekend' Junior Day Event.

He's of course not the only one, as Venables is making this is a major weekend, hosting several current comments, plus other top targets. There's going to be fantastic energy all over campus, which the OU staff is hoping will lead to some new pledges.

As things stand, Oklahoma has 14 prospects on board for '27, with that class being ranked No. 1 in the nation by 247Sports. Venables has been crushing it out on the recruiting trail of late and more big-time commits are going to be coming soon as well. Are we going to be able to add Scott's name to the list by the end of the weekend? Stay tuned to see if that happens or not.
