Kyron Brown is so unknown that he doesn't even pop up when someone Googles him, mostly thanks to sharing a name with multiple other football players, yet the Oklahoma Sooners and many others have still managed to find the underrated 2027 wide receiver.
Brown on Thursday announced via X an offer from the Sooners to join a growing list of offers despite being unranked and unrated as a no-star prospect by every major recruiting service. In fact, Brown isn't even on 247Sports or ESPN's radar at all without a recruiting profile for either outlet.

Those recruiting ratings will soon dramatically escalate because of Brown's recent offers. He has announced FBS offers so far from OU, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Texas State and UTEP, and with the Sooners now in the mix, even more college football programs will start giving Brown a look. But even if Brown does explode as a prospect, the Sooners now have a head start in landing his commitment.
Brown, listed at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, caught 36 passes for 637 yards and nine touchdowns last season as a junior for Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas. He also impressed on the 7-on-7 circuit last summer.
In 2024, though, Brown tallied 34 receptions and 371 receiving yards, so those lackluster numbers as a sophomore likely stunted Brown's recruitment as most big-time prospects make themselves known early.
Reasons off the football field also reveal why Brown has emerged as an FBS target. He's a standout on the track thanks to his speed. He qualified for the Class 5A UIL State Championships in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.2 seconds last year and was a regional qualifier in the 300-meter hurdles.
It's a mystery what will actually come of Brown, but OU dishing out an early offer is still essentially a win-win for the Sooners.
The Sooners already have two 2027 receivers committed in four-star Demare Dezeurn and three-star Tra'Von Hall, and are also still in the mix for multiple others. If Brown disappoints as a senior, then OU simply backs off and moves on still with other options, but if Brown is a gem, then the Sooners already have first dibs.
