Top-ranked Oklahoma softball lost for the first time in 31 games over the weekend, but Sam Landry pitched the Sooners to bookend wins and a series win over Missouri.

Landry, a right-handed transfer from Louisiana, started games on Friday and Sunday for the Sooners (29-1, 8-1) and finished both with complete-game 8-0 and 5-1 wins. But in between, in the middle game on Saturday, Missouri knocked Oklahoma from the unbeaten ranks with a 3-1 victory.

Although Missouri entered the series with a 17-13 overall record and 0-3 in conference play, all three games were closely contested, and the Sooners had to come from behind on Sunday to avoid losing not once but twice to the unranked Tigers.

After falling behind 1-0 in the third inning on Sunday on a home run by Missouri's Julia Crenshaw, the first and only run of the weekend off of OU's Landry, Nelly McEnroe-Marinas blasted a home run over the left-center field fence in the top of the fourth to knot the score.

Two innings later, Kasidi Pickering left the yard on a two-run blast, putting the Sooners' up 3-1. OU added two more insurance runs to finish off the 5-1 win.

The pitching line for Landry's weekend of work read two complete games with one run on five hits, 13 strikeouts and one walk in 12 innings pitched. She earned her eighth and ninth wins of the season without a loss.

Landry was lights out in the circle in the series opener, allowing no runs on just one hit and striking out four in recording her fourth complete game of the season. Home runs by McEnroe-Marinas, Gabbie Garcia and Ella Parker provided all the offense as Oklahoma recorded its 15th run-rule win and 11th shutout of the season.

A pair of Missouri pitchers stiffled the Oklahoma offense in Game 2 on Saturday, holding the Sooners to five hits total in a 3-1 Mizzou win. OU's only run came on a solo home run by Marinas leading off the seventh inning.

The Sooners go on the road to play Wichita State on Wednesday and will be home over the weekend to host a three-game series with No. 7 Tennessee at Love's Field.

Notable notes from this past weekend's series at Missouri

  • Oklahoma hit six home runs in the Missouri series, giving it 60 for the season. The Sooners have hit a home run in all but two of the 30 games this season.
  • Freshman Gabbie Garcia's 14-game hitting streak was snapped on Saturday. She was 0-for-2 in two official plate appearances, but was on base a couple of times with walks.
  • The OU loss on Saturday snapped a 31-game winning streak that dated back to last season. The Sooners left 10 runners on base but managed just one run in Saturday's loss, which came on a solo home run in the seventh inning by Nelly McEnroe-Marinas
  • Redshirt freshman third baseman Nelly McEnroe-Marinas hit a home run in all three games, giving her 10 for the season. She is tied in that category for the team lead with shortstop Gabbie Garcia, who had a three-run long ball in Game 1.
  • The Sooners' win in the series finale on Sunday was their 11th comeback win of the 2025 season.
