Less than three months after Abby Dayton hung up her Oklahoma softball uniform in May, she has made a move to another professional team following her debut this summer.
On Thursday, Dayton became the first former Sooner to sign an offer to join the Knoxville Miracle of the Professional Softball League (PSL) for the 2027 season. The Miracle is a PSL expansion franchise set to begin play next year based in the hometown of the Tennessee Volunteers, and so far, has recruited four players since it launched on April 6.

2026 OU graduate Abby Dayton signs with Knoxville Miracle of the PSL
Dayton competed in the inaugural PSL season, lasting from June 12 to Aug. 8, where she appeared in 24 games as a member of the Florida Vibe. She earned Rookie of the Year honors after leading the team in batting with 30 hits and 26 runs, while her .400 average was the third-highest among teammates.
The 2026 Vibe roster also featured Kierston Deal making her professional debut on the pitching staff, where the former Oklahoma teammate of Dayton tossed 26.2 innings in the circle. 2022 OU graduate Hope Trautwein-Valdespino played in the league for the Kansas City Diamonds and won Pitcher of the Year after finishing the season with a league-best ERA of 2.48.
Dayton, a California native, spent her last two college softball seasons as a daily starter in the outfield at Oklahoma after transferring from Utah. She wrapped up her career with a .352 average and a career total of 102 runs, 100 hits, 62 RBI and 11 home runs in 123 game appearances. Dayton reached the semifinals of the 2025 Women’s College World Series, and made the 2026 All-SEC Second Team and NFCA First Team All-Midwest Region.
