Week 11 may not have brought any huge scoreboard surprises, but you wouldn't necessarily draw that conclusion from the way teams changed places in the SEC Football Power Rankings for Week 12.
Only 11 of the 16 SEC teams were in action over the weekend, and none of the games resulted in what would be considered an upset, yet 10 conference teams found themselves in a different pecking order in the new power rankings than just a week ago, including a new front-runner.
Texas A&M, with an impressive 38-17 road win at Missouri over the weekend, takes over the top spot in the power rankings this week and remains the only SEC team with an unbeaten overall record at 9-0. Alabama, which commanded the top spot the past four weeks, dropped back one spot to No. 2 despite a 20-9 win at home over LSU, which played its first game under interim head coach Frank Wilson.
The biggest mover this week is Florida. The Gators tumbled four spots to No. 15 following a 38-7 beatdown by Kentucky.
With just three more regular-season games remaining for every SEC team and several high-profile contests included on the schedule, things are likely to stay a bit unsettled until the final weekend.
1. Texas A&M Aggies (9-0, 6-0)
The Aggies are getting closer and closer to a spot in the SEC Championship Game, as well as a potential first-round bye in the College Football Playoff. Their final three games include back-to-back home games against South Carolina this week followed by a nonconference game with Samford. They finish out the regular season with a rivalry showdown at Texas, which should be the only thing standing in their way to a perfect 12-0 regular season.
Previous rank: 2
2. Alabama Crimson Tide (8-1, 6-1)
Alabama won its 17th consecutive home game, defeating LSU 20-9 on Saturday, and next will face Oklahoma this weekend with a lot at stake for both teams. The Crimson Tide have not forgotten being upset by the Sooners last season in a game that cost Alabama a precious spot in the College Football Playoff. After Oklahoma, the Tide will host Eastern Illinois before closing out the season with the annual Iron Bowl matchup against Auburn.
Previous rank: 1
3. Georgia Bulldogs (8-1, 6-1)
Georgia hosts a dangerous Texas team this weekend that is starting to find its stride. That will be the Bulldogs' final conference game of the season. They still have nonconference dates with Charlotte (Nov. 22) and Georgia Tech the Friday after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, the Dawgs' 24-21 loss to Alabama earlier in the season is what could keep them out of the conference championship game should both Bama and Texas A&M keep winning.
Previous rank: 3
4. Ole Miss Rebels (9-1, 5-1)
Ole Miss has very winnable games ahead with Florida this weekend in Oxford and an Egg Bowl rivalry game date against Mississippi State to close out the regular season. At this stage, it would appear that Lane Kiffin's Rebels are pretty firmly entrenched in the playoff field.
Previous rank: 4
5. Texas Longhorns (7-2, 4-1)
Texas enjoyed a bye week in Week 11, which allowed the Longhorns an extra week of preparation before returning to action this weekend at Georgia. Texas has won its last four games after suffering a shocking 29-21 loss at Florida on Oct. 4. The Horns will host Texas A&M on Nov. 28 in a showdown that will likely determine at least one of the participants in the SEC Championship Game.
Previous rank: 6
6. Oklahoma Sooners (7-2, 3-2)
The Sooners' ability to stay in the hunt for a place in the College Football Playoff will be determined by what happens this weekend when Oklahoma plays at Alabama. OU still has difficult games left with Missouri and LSU after Saturday, but both of those games are in Norman. Should the Sooners manage to pull off the upset over Bama, they would be in excellent position to make the CFP for the first time since 2019.
Previous rank: 5
7. Vanderbilt Commodores (8-2, 4-2)
Vanderbilt escaped with a 45-38 overtime win over Auburn on Saturday to avoid a third conference loss and is the lone SEC team with the week off this weekend. The Commodores finish out the regular season against Kentucky on Nov. 22 and their annual in-state rivalry with Tennessee in Knoxville on Nov. 29. Vanderbilt will finish the season with its second-straight winning season. The Dores were 7-6 a year ago, their first winning mark since 2013.
Previous rank: 9
8. Tennessee Volunteers (6-3, 3-3)
Tennessee was one of six SEC teams that did not change places from last week. The Volunteers have one of the easiest schedules to close out the season. They host New Mexico State on Saturday and finish out the regular season at Florida and at home against Vanderbilt. At worst, they will likely finish out the season at 8-4 and have a good chance of going 9-3.
Previous rank: 8
9. Missouri Tigers (6-3, 2-3)
After beginning the season with five consecutive wins, Missouri has since dropped three of its last four games. The Tigers host their final home game of the season Saturday against Mississippi State. They will finish up on the road at Oklahoma on Nov. 22 and Arkansas on Nov. 29. The Tigers lost their starting quarterback for the season two weeks ago with a dislocated ankle in a loss to Vanderbilt.
Previous rank: 7
10. LSU Tigers (5-4, 2-4)
LSU played its first game since the firing of head coach Brian Kelly and lost 20-9 at Alabama on Saturday. Things get a little easier from here. The Tigers, 0-3 in their last three conference games, host Arkansas on Saturday in the annual Battle for the Boot. Western Kentucky, which is 7-2 through games since Saturday, comes to Baton Rouge on Nov. 22, and the Tigers finish out the season at Oklahoma on Nov. 29.
Previous rank: 10
11. Mississippi State Bulldogs (5-5, 1-5)
Mississippi State swept its four nonconference opponents this season, including a home victory over then-No. 12 Arizona State. The Bulldogs only win in six conference games, however, was a three-point victory over Arkansas. Mississippi State is at Missouri this weekend, as both teams try to rebound from Week 11 losses, then closes out the regular season hosting Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl.
Previous rank: 12
12. Kentucky Wildcats (4-5, 2-5)
After losing its first five conference games this season, Kentucky is now on a two-game win streak, posting back-to-back wins over Auburn and Florida. The Wildcats play their final home game of the season this weekend in a nonconference contest with Tennessee Tech and end the regular season with games against Vanderbilt on Nov. 22 and in-state rival Louisville on Nov. 29.
Previous rank: 14
13. South Carolina Gamecocks (3-6, 1-6)
South Carolina seeks its second conference win of the 2025 season, going to Texas A&M on Saturday. The Gamecocks step out of the conference for their final two games of the regular season, but both games are at home at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.
Previous rank: 13
14. Auburn Tigers (4-6, 1-6)
Auburn came close to logging its second SEC win on Saturday before falling at Vanderbilt in overtime. The Tigers, one of four SEC teams that have fired their head coach this season, will have one more chance to pick up a second conference win when they host Alabama in the Iron Bowl on Nov. 29. Nonconference foe Mercer visits Auburn on Saturday.
15. Florida Gators (3-6, 2-4)
Hard to imagine that Florida began the season ranked No. 15 in the preseason Associated Press Top 25. The Gators are 3-6 overall heading into Week 12 and have three difficult games remaining. Florida is coming off an embarrassing 38-7 loss to Kentucky this past weekend and has games remaining against a pair of top-25 teams in Ole Miss and Tennessee before a regular-season finale against rival Florida State.
Previous rank: 11
16. Arkansas Razorbacks (2-7, 0-5)
The Razorbacks have had a rough go this season and are the only SEC team without a conference win. The road ahead doesn't paint a rosy picture either. Arkansas is at LSU on Saturday in the Battle for the Boot. The Hogs take on another longtime rival in the Texas Longhorns on Nov. 22 and finish the regular season at home in another border war versus Missouri.
