Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh have been talking up offensive lineman Michael Fasusi since the moment he signed in December, but it's not just his coaches who believe in Fasusi.

Fasusi on Tuesday was named to the On3 College Football Preseason True Freshman All-American Team, which included nine players from the SEC.

Fasusi named On3 Preseason True Freshman All-American

Fasusi was the headliner of the Sooners' 2025 signing class as a consensus five-star recruit. According to the 247Sports Composite, Fasusi, listed at 6-foot-5 and 295 pounds, was the top offensive tackle in the class and No. 5 overall prospect out of Lewisville High School in Texas. However, Fasusi is originally from Omuo-Ekiti, Nigeria.

Now weighing in at 309 pounds after an offseason in Norman, Fasusi is battling for a starting job on the Sooners' offensive line as a true freshman. Even if he doesn't get the nod as a starter, Fasusi is still expected to see the field a lot as a frosh, as well as fellow freshman offensive lineman Ryan Fodje.

"I hate to put unreal expectations on them, you know me, I'm an honest dude," Bedenbaugh told media during fall camp. "I haven't had — and we've had good players, really good guys that are All-Pros — I haven't had anybody like them at that age, just overall. They aren't afraid."

Although Fasusi reached All-American status before ever seeing the field, he not only will likely back it up and still be on the list when the season ends, but he could be joined by Fodje. Based on hype out of fall camp, freshman wide receiver Elijah Thomas could also emerge as a Freshman All-American by the time he finishes his first season.
