The dominoes keep falling in the direction of Oklahoma.

Four-star 2026 wide receiver Jayden Petit, who has recently reemerged as a top OU target, announced on Wednesday evening that he officially decommitted from the Wisconsin Badgers, meaning he’s for sure going to play his college ball somewhere else, and it’s looking like it will be for the Sooners.

Jayden Petit decommits from Wisconsin

“I want to begin by expressing my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to pursue my dream of playing college football at the highest level,” Petit wrote in his announcement. “After a great deal of thought, prayer, and honest reflection, I have made the very difficult decision to decommit from the University of Wisconsin. …

“Thank you again to the entire Wisconsin staff and fanbase for everything. This decision is about following the path I believe God is leading me toward, and I will always be grateful for the experience and relationships built along the way.”

Petit had been committed to Wisconsin since June 26, but the Badgers have endured a miserable season this year as head coach Luke Fickell is fighting for his job. Meanwhile, after their own struggles last season, the Sooners have turned things around as College Football Playoff contenders and have used the success for a late surge recruiting the 2026 class while flipping multiple commits.

The Sooners hosted Petit for a visit on Oct. 25, when OU played Ole Miss. Petit also took an official visit to Oklahoma this past summer just before committing to Wisconsin.

Last week, after Petit’s recent visit to Norman, Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong logged an expert prediction for Petit to flip from Wisconsin to the Sooners. His decommitment now makes that seem even more likely by Early National Signing Day on Wednesday.

Listed at 6-foot-4, Petit is the No. 24 wide receiver in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He just received a massive boost from 247Sports, though, to become the No. 13 wide receiver and No. 93 overall prospect to debut in the top 100. He’s also the No. 12 player in Florida out of St. John Neumann High School in Naples.

Petit was the highest-rated commit in Wisconsin’s 2026 class, so was a massive blow for the Badgers. He would be the fourth-best commit in the Sooners’ group.

The Sooners currently have three 2026 receivers committed in four-star Daniel Odom, three-star Xavier Okwufulueze and three-star Brayden Allen, who flipped from Tulane. Petit is rated higher than all of them.
