Oklahoma star freshman Jeremiah Fears didn't shut down a possible return to the Sooners.

Fears was outstanding in the 9-seed Sooners' 67-59 loss to the 8-seed UConn Huskies in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night.

In the loss, Fears led all scorers with 20 points while also recording four assists, five rebounds and two steals. Most impressively, while handling the ball as a young freshman, Fears turned the ball over only twice.

Almost everyone assumes that was Fears' final college basketball game after just one season. He was the Sooners' leading scorer this season while averaging 17.1 points a game and scoring double digits in every game but four. He also averaged 4.1 assists and 4.1 rebounds this season.

Fears has been a projected lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft all season since reclassifying from the 2026 class and starting college a year early. His stock likely rose even more Friday night after showing out in front of a national audience against the two-time defending national champions.

After the game, Fears posted a picture of his No. 0 crimson jersey on his Instagram story that insinuated the loss to UConn was his final game.

However, during the postgame press conference, Fears was asked about his post and his future decision. Fears didn't share much detail, but he also didn't act like entering the NBA Draft was confirmed. Although, transferring somewhere else is always a possibility, too.

"I haven't talked about anything yet," Fears said. "I'll speak further after this with the coaches and eventually my parents, and just see what the next step is after this."

Although a return hasn't publicly been ruled out yet from Fears, Sooner Nation still shouldn't get its hopes up.
