Jason Witten's first high school commit as the Oklahoma Sooners' tight ends coach just keeps getting better.
OU tight end commit Seneca Driver on Monday earned a prestigious fifth star as a prospect in the updated 2027 Rivals300 recruiting rankings. Six players were upgraded to five-star status in the latest update, bringing the 2027 class total to 18 so far, according to Rivals, with Driver being the only TE with the recognition. There will eventually be 32 total based on potential NFL Draft first-round picks.
Seneca Driver keeps climbing recruiting rankings after Oklahoma commitment
Driver was the headliner of the Sooners' massive five-commit weekend in early March to become the first and only high school commit Witten has landed so far. Rivals ranks Driver as the top tight end in the 2027 class and No. 15 overall prospect. He was down at No. 84 before the update.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Driver, listed at a towering 6-foot-6 and 234 pounds already, is the No. 3 tight end and No. 42 player. He's also the best player from Kentucky out of Boyle County High School. Those ratings will soon improve, though, with Rivals' latest update, but 247Sports is still much lower on Driver as the No. 62 overall prospect and still a four-star recruit.
Driver chose the Sooners over offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Indiana, in-state Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and more. OU offered rather late last August, but didn't really get into the mix until Witten took over tight ends for the Sooners after Joe Jon Finley was fired.
At this point, with 20 total commits, the Sooners have four pledges with some sort of five-star status, which would be an outstanding 20% of the group. Offensive tackles Cooper Hackett and Kaeden Penny, and linebacker Cooper Witten, the son of Jason Witten, have five stars based on the 247Sports Composite. Rivals also gave Hackett five stars with Driver.
Soon, the Sooners' offensive front could feature at least three future first-round NFL Draft picks.
