It took less than 24 hours for Oklahoma to steal Oklahoma State's 2025 QB commit

After the Sooners offered Jett Niu on Tuesday evening, he signed the very next morning.

The Bedlam rivals didn't compete on the field this season, but Oklahoma still managed to beat Oklahoma State.

On the eve of Early National Signing Day, the Sooners offered OSU's 2025 quarterback commit Jett Niu. By the next morning, he was officially a Sooner after signing with OU on Wednesday.

"After much thought and reflection, I've decided to decommit from Oklahoma State and commit to the University of Oklahoma," Niu said in a statement on X. "I am incredibly grateful for the amazing support and opportunites I received from Oklahoma State and their coaching staff. Thank you for believing in me and helping me grow. I am looking forward to this new chapter at OU and can't wait to see what the future holds."

New OU offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle was already after Niu while at Washington State before he chose OSU over the Cougars. Arbuckle was hired Monday, and within 48 hours, he pursued his old QB target, offered him and flipped him to sign. It's amazing the influence of a different logo and more money.

The Sooners have crushed OSU's dreams as late as the last week of the regular season before, but have never stolen a future quarterback on the morning of signing day. And he chose to (presumably) spend the next 4-5 years in Norman despite never actually visiting. Niu did visit Arbuckle at Washington State, though.

OU needed a 2025 quarterback, though, after Kevin Sperry flipped to Florida State two weeks ago. It looked as if OU would just proceed without a 2025 quarterback with an already young QB room and stellar 2026 commit in Jaden O'Neal. But now it seems the Sooners were just waiting for their new offensive coordinator to choose his guy.

Niu was also originally a replacement for OSU, which lost Adam Schobel to TCU in July. He committed to the Cowboys in September.

From Lehi, Utah, Niu is a three-star prospect, according to every major recruiting service. Every service ranks him as a top-20 recruit in Utah.
