Bedlam still lives! Oklahoma offered Oklahoma State's 2025 QB Commit
On the eve of Early National Signing Day, we get Bedlam.
Oklahoma State's 2025 quarterback commit Jett Niu on Tuesday evening announced that he received an offer from Oklahoma. The Sooners are currently without a quarterback commit from the 2025 class after Kevin Sperry flipped his commitment to Florida State two weeks ago.
Niu was also OSU's replacement after four-star recruit Adam Schobel flipped to TCU in July. Niu committment to the Cowboys in September.
Like OSU, OU also lost a four-star recruit in Sperry. Niu is a three-star prospect from Lehi, Utah. He threw for 2,857 yards and 29 touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions this season, according to MaxPreps.
Niu already held an offer from Washington State. Brent Venables and OU on Monday hired the Cougars' former offensive coordinator, Ben Arbuckle, and just over 24 hours later, Arbuckle, who was mentioned in Niu's post, made his first recruiting move with the Sooners.
Arbuckle was obviously already aware of and after Niu. But now with the OU logo on his clothing (and more money in his pocket), Arbuckle has more to offer his quarterback target. Arbuckle's quarterback this season, John Mateer, was also a three-star recruit out of high school. Arbuckle then turned Mateer into a top-15 passer in the country as a sophomore.
The Sooners currently have 18 commits from the 2025 class the day before the early signing period starts. That number has dipped during this week with receivers Marcus Harris and Gracen Harris decommitting from the Sooners. Even with those losses, though, OU still has three receivers in four-star Elijah Thomas, four-star Cortez Mills and three-star Emmanuel Choice.
As it sits, the Sooners have the 14th-best recruiting class in the country and the class is ranked ninth in the SEC.
