Sooner Nation will get a rooting interest in a playoff, after all.
There are 19 former Oklahoma players on rosters of teams that made the NFL Playoffs this season, which start Saturday afternoon. With the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions getting a first-round bye, 15 of those Sooners will be playing this weekend during the Wild Card Round.
Of the 14 teams to make the playoffs, the Chiefs and Denver Broncos are tied with the most former Sooners on their rosters with four apiece. The Philadelphia Eagles have three former OU players, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Minnesota Vikings both have two.
The Playoff Sooners are headlined by a pair of starting quarterbacks with Baker Mayfield in Tampa and Jalen Hurts with the Eagles. Nik Bonitto and Marvin Mims Jr. are also Pro Bowlers as they've helped lead the Broncos into the playoffs. The Houston Texans also wouldn't be in without their offense relying on Joe Mixon.
