For the first time this spring, a former Oklahoma Sooner found a new home.

Former OU offensive lineman Josh Aisosa announced via X on Thursday that he committed to the West Virginia Mountaineers out of the transfer portal. Of OU's six losses so far during this spring cycle, Aisosa is the first to choose his next destination despite being the most recent entry.

Aisosa, a redshirt freshman, was the sixth OU player to enter the transfer portal this spring on Friday. He then found his new home in just under a week.

From nearby Santa Fe High School in Edmond, Oklahoma, Aisosa signed with the Sooners as a three-star recruit in the 2024 class. On3 ranked him as high as the No. 52 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 class and No. 8 overall player in the state of Oklahoma.

He chose OU over offers from Iowa State, North Texas, Tulsa and others,

Aisosa, listed at 6-foot-3 and 331 pounds, then redshirted his only year in Norman so never saw the field for the Sooners. He would have likely been buried on the depth chart again during the 2025 season.

Aisosa should get more opportunity at West Virginia, where former OU co-defensive coordinator Zac Alley is now assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.

Of the Sooners' losses this spring, none had ever been major contributors and were mostly casualties from a possible new 105-player roster limit. The transfer portal closes on Friday and won't open again until December, after the 2025 regular season ends.
