At times, this has seemed like a hard year for Sooner Nation, but in the end, a bad day cheering for the Oklahoma Sooners is still better than rooting for other teams on their good days.
OU is part of a group of only 16 schools that had teams make the three most popular college sports events of the year. The Sooners' football team made a bowl game, while the men's and women's basketball teams both made the NCAA Tournament. Only 15 other athletic departments accomplished that task.
The only other schools to make all three include Duke, Louisville, North Carolina, Baylor, Iowa State, Illinois, Michigan, Oregon, Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, Vanderbilt, Liberty and UConn.

With the men's basketball team making a late run to sneak into the NCAA Tournament as a 9-seed, OU also became one of 27 schools to be represented in both the men's and women's bracket of March Madness. The OU women were comfortably in the NCAA Tournament as a 3-seed and will host the first two rounds at Lloyd Noble Center.
The OU women will host 14-seed Florida Gulf Coast at 1:30 p.m. CT on Saturday in Norman. The men will tip things off against 8-seed UConn at 8:25 p.m. CT Friday. Again, Sooner Nation is one of only 27 fanbases that get to cheer for two teams during the NCAA Tournament.
The football team also just barely reached the postseason after upsetting Alabama to reach six wins and qualify for a bowl game. The Sooners finished 6-7 after losing to Navy in the Armed Forces Bowl.
And there's still more postseason action to come for the Sooners. The next big events are the Men's and Women's College World Series. After hot starts, the OU baseball and softball teams already seem to be locks to play in the NCAA Tournament with stellar chances to get all the way to the College World Series.
Both gymnastics teams are also national title contenders just a few weeks from now.
