A new fan base will get to love Danny Stutsman.

Stutsman, a linebacker, was selected by the New Orleans Saints with the 112th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday, the third and final day of the event.

Saints select a Sooner Nation favorite in NFL Draft

Stutsman, listed at 6-foot-3 and 233 pounds, was a defensive staple for the Sooners the last three seasons after serving as a backup his freshman season in 2021. After that, he went on to start 37 times and appeared in 47 games during his career.

Spending his entire career at the same place, Stutsman tallied 376 tackles, 36 tackles for loss, eight sacks, three interceptions, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and eight pass breakups. His 376 tackles rank ninth at a program with a storied defensive tradition.

Stutsman was a consensus All-American his senior year and was a Third-Team AP All-American in 2023 as a junior. He was also a Butkus Award finalist this year and was a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award in 2023.

Off the field, Stutsman will quickly become a fan favorite in New Orleans like he did for Sooner Nation. He came back for his senior season instead of entering last year's NFL Draft to experience OU's first season in the SEC and made his announcement alongside Sooner legend Brian Bosworth.

Stutsman also donated a large portion of his NIL earnings to walk-ons last year and infamously got an upside-down Longhorn logo after beating Texas in the 2023 Red River Rivalry, during which he delivered the famous line, "I’m certain of two (expletive) things in life! One, I’m certain that Oklahoma only fears God! And number two, Texas fears Oklahoma!”

After he was drafted, the ESPN crew went on about how great of a locker room guy Stutsman will be for the Saints.

Stutsman's character will make him beloved on and off the field, and he's also projected to eventually emerge as an everyday starter in the NFL, even as a Day 3 pick.
