Without the Oklahoma Sooners' dysfunctional offense making you want to throw your TV out of a window or quit football altogether, OU fans can actually just relax and enjoy some college football on Saturday with Brent Venables and Co. on their bye week.
Make the most of this Saturday, because it will be far from restful in a week, when the Sooners are taking on No. 1 Texas in the Red River Rivalry. The Longhorns are also enjoying a week off right now.
It's not exactly a loaded slate of college football this weekend, but still worth making the most of. And if there's a game that doesn't seem to be worth your time, then that's the chance to get brownie points with your family who haven't seen you in four straight Saturdays.
Here's the best game to watch for each time slot on Saturday and why it's of interest for OU fans.
No. 7 Alabama at No. 16 Mississippi State
When: 11 a.m. CT Saturday
Watch: ABC (watch using fuboTV free trial)
Even though it's the early game, this is the marquee matchup of Week 5 that no one expected when the season started. The fact that it's in Starkville makes it even more intriguing because that means the Bulldogs have an even better chance of taking down mighty Alabama in a battle of unbeatens.
Former OU offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby has suddenly turned Mississippi State into a CFP contender with one of the most exciting offenses in college football (must be nice).
The spark of it all is quarterback Kamario Taylor, who has emerged as a surprise Heisman Trophy contender. He also tends to throw deep to Zion Ragins, who transferred from OU over the offseason.
On the other side, Bama also has a budding star at QB in sophomore Keelon Russell. The Crimson Tide haven't really beaten anyone noteworthy yet, though, to know what they're really made of. The winner of this one will solidify itself as a CFP contender.
The Sooners avoided Bama this season, but will head to Mississippi State on Oct. 24, when Brent Venables will face off against one of his former assistants.
No. 8 Florida at No. 25 Missouri
When: 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday
Watch: ABC (watch using fuboTV free trial)
Florida and Missouri are both ahead on the Sooners' schedule, and they'll have to hit the road to take on both.
Florida just hammered Ole Miss to earn Top 10 status under new head coach Jon Sumrall, while Missouri lost to Mississippi State last week. If the Gators dominate again, then it will be clear that they are for real, and OU's trip to The Swamp could get ugly. That result would also prove that Mizzou is, once again, overrated.
Washington at No. 18 USC
When: 6:30 p.m. CT
Watch: NBC (watch using fuboTV free trial)
Lincoln Riley's seat got a little bit warmer last weekend after losing to Oregon 41-27 at home. The Ducks not only thumped USC, but they did it after losing starting quarterback Dante Moore in the second quarter. It didn't matter who was at QB, the Trojans couldn't stop them (been there, done that).
Washington is unranked at 3-1, but the Huskies are a solid squad that was once inside the Top 25 before suffering a loss to Minnesota. If Riley loses back-to-back games at home, and this one to an unranked opponent, then you could watch live the nail get hammered into his coffin at the Mecca of college football.
