Some former Oklahoma Sooners might not be done getting you victories and bragging rights.
The NFL will be loaded with former OU players this upcoming season and some are even viable options in fantasy football. With draft season peaking, here are five former OU standouts that members of Sooner Nation or fans of any other college football program should have on their fantasy team to help win their league.
And for those who do add some Sooners to their squad, we already put out a list of fantasy football names for Sooner Nation.
Mark Andrews, TE, Baltimore Ravens
Mark Andrews has fallen out of the top tier of fantasy tight ends, but if you're not willing to draft a tight end early, then Andrews is still a solid option that's still available around the seventh round in 12-team leagues.
Andrews is a lock to be a top-10 TE, but could rise as a top-5 option at his position, which makes him him a steal at his current ADP.
Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Hurts has the secret sauce for fantasy success because of his rushing ability. Other top running QBs like Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson could cost you a second-round pick. Hurts, though, has still been available in the fourth round and also doesn't have to share goal-line opportunities with Derrick Henry like Jackson does.
CeeDee Lamb, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Even as a consensus top-10 overall pick, CeeDee Lamb could still be a steal at his ADP. He's usually WR3 behind Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson, but could easily be WR1 this time next year.
Lamb had to overcome just about every obstacle last season while missing two games because of injury and getting to play only eight games with starting QB Dak Prescott. And he was still top 10 in the NFL in almost every receiving category. Now, both are not only back healthy, but a porous defense will also have the Cowboys throwing the ball a lot.
Baker Mayfield, QB Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Baker Mayfield has risen as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, even in fantasy, just most haven't noticed yet. Mayfield was QB4 in fantasy last year, yet he's still being drafted barely as a top-10 QB in the sixth or seventh rounds. That gives you the chance to get similar production to the QBs going in the first three rounds, but at a much more affordable rate.
If you need more reason to grab Mayfield, he accomplished what he did last season with both of his top two receivers missing time with injury. Both will eventually be back healthy, plus the Bucs gave Mayfield another weapon in rookie sensation Emeka Egbuka.
Marvin Mims Jr., WR, Denver Broncos
Marvin Mims Jr. is a late-round flier who could make you look like a fantasy football Nostradamus. Mims had a breakout season last year and was a top-25 WR in fantasy points per game in Weeks 11-18. His ADP is somewhere around the 12th round, so you could potentially steal a WR2 at the cost of a bench stash.
Why to avoid Joe Mixon
Joe Mixon made the Pro Bowl last year and became fantasy relevant because he was the Houston Texans' bell cow back. The Texans have since brought in Nick Chubb, who could cut into Mixon's production. On top of that, Mixon could miss the start of the season because of an ankle injury, giving Chubb and someone else a chance to take over as the Texans' RB1.
