3 Oklahoma 2027 commits who are about to have their recruiting rankings explode

The Sooners bought stock a lot lower than it will be by signing day.

The 2027 recruiting class that Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables and general manager Jim Nagy has assembled is full of recruiting gems who were unknown when the Sooners discovered them before skrocketing as top prospects. But some of OU's commits aren't done yet rising in recruiting rankings and are on the verge of another boost during their senior seasons before ultimately signing with the Sooners.

To make things easier, I based all recruiting ratings and rankings for this list on the 247Sports Composite, which compiles from 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN for an average.

Future Sooners whose stock will rise before the Early Signing Period

When Jaxsen Stokes bailed on the Sooners to stay home and play for in-state Cal, new running backs coach Deland McCullough quickly got Jakoby Dixon onboard as his first recruiting win in Norman. It seemed like a quick fix at the time to plug a new hole, but by signing day, OU fans could be just as excited for Dixon as top-10 prospect Keldrid Ben, who's also committed at the position.

This time last year, Dixon had four stars next to his name, but after a lackluster junior season because of an injury while at a new school, his recruiting stock plummeted to now being the No. 51 running back in the class as a three-star prospect.

Dixon has since returned to Brenham High School in Texas, where as a sophomore in 2024 he rushed for a staggering 2,248 yards and 32 TDs. Last season, though, he totalled just 140 rushing yards and three scores because of injury. It took only that one year for recruiters to forget about Dixon, but if he's anywhere near the form he was in 2024 or '23, he'll not only have four stars again, but could even creep into the top 25 at his position.

After the Sooners had just lost two receiver commits on the same day, Malahn Green showed up to Norman for a camp and impressed enough to earn an offer. It was only his second Power Four offer after Nebraska as he was unrated and unranked by every major recruiting outlet at the time.

Since, Green has at least gained three stars and is considered the No. 154 receiver in the class out of Saint Louis. He's a bit undersized at 5-foot-10, but with the Sooners putting a spotlight on Green ahead of his senior year at Cardinal Ritter College Prep, he'll see a triumph rise in recruiting rankings over the next few months as scouts finally take notice.

Unlike the last two commits mentioned, Bode Sparrow has never been under the radar as a four-star recruit and No. 79 overall player with the ability to play both safety and wide receiver at the Power Four level. He's expected to play safety for Venables.

There's still room for Sparrow to rise, though. Even though he's outside the top 75 based on the 247Sports Composite, Rivals ranks Sparrow as the No. 59 prospect after its recent update. Considering his numbers have taken large jumps every season so far, if Sparrow takes another leap as a senior, he could be flirting with five-star status by the time he signs with the Sooners.
