Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser is supposed to have more resources than ever before to lure talent from the Transfer Portal and will finally have help from an experienced general manager in Lucas McKay, so OU fans can start dreaming big for what should be the Sooners' greatest transfer haul yet with the cycle officially starting on Tuesday.
Realistically, there will still be plenty of college basketball programs out-bidding OU this cycle, but the Sooners should still be able to land some big-time targets, especially to solve their major needs. With less excuses now, there are some players in the portal Moser needs to make a priority that would have been out of reach last year.
The Sooners have been desperate for a dominant center to compete in the SEC, and Somto Cyril, listed at 6-foot-11, is exactly what Moser's roster needs. He already has proven SEC experience after two years at Georgia that included 66 career games and 32 starts this season.
Cyril is a playmaker on both ends of the court as the Sooners also need help on the defensive end after struggling there the past two seasons. Cyril was voted by conference coaches to the SEC All-Defensive Team after averaging 2.2 blocks a game as one of the best interior defenders in the country. He also averaged 9.3 points a game offensively.
Every major outlet ranks Cyril near the top of their transfer portal rankings, so he'll come with a hefty price if Moser wants him wearing crimson and cream next season, but Roger Denny promised more money.
With Nijel Pack gone, the Sooners need a three-pointer shooter, and South Florida's Wes Enis might be the best available. The Bulls lucked out with Enis, who went from an unknown Division-II transfer from Lincoln Memorial to starting 29 games in his first Division-I season. He made 107 three-pointers this season while shooting 35.2% from beyond the arc. He also led the Bulls with 16.4 points a game as they went 25-9.
Enis is ready to make another jump and will be dangerous wherever he ends up, which is hopefully Norman.
Emphasizing the Sooners' need for a trusted center, Drew Fielder will be cheaper than Somto Cyril, but with more potential on the offensive end. After two years at Georgetown, Fielder, listed at 6-foot-11, averaged 14.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in his only season with Boise State. He's considered a top-10 center in the portal by most outlets.
