Four Oklahoma football players have been named to the All-Big 12 First Team for the 2023 season and two more Sooners were second-team selections.

OU’s Dillon Gabriel was a unanimous selection as first-team quarterback. He is joined on the All-Big 12 First Team by teammates WR Drake Stoops, and defensive players LB Danny Stutsman and DB Billy Bowman.

This is in sharp contrast to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team, which had just one Oklahoma player, DE Ethan Downs, named to the team.

Downs was named to the second team along with OL Andrew Raym.

Gabriel led the Big 12 and is ranked in the top-10 nationally in multiple offensive categories: passing offense (305.0 yards per game), passing efficiency (172.0), passing touchdowns (30), passing yards (3,660), and points responsible for per game (21.0). The redshirt-senior ranks seventh in FBS history with 14,865 career passing yards and eighth in FBS history with 125 career passing touchdowns.

Stoops enjoyed his best year as a Sooner with a Big 12-leading 78 catches and 10 receiving touchdowns. He was third in the conference with 880 receiving yards and had three games with more than 100 receiving yards, all coming in three of the team’s final four games.

Bowman leads the Big 12 and ranks second nationally with six interceptions this season. A nation-best three of his interceptions were returned for touchdowns.

Stutsman leads the Sooners and is second in the Big 12 with 99 total tackles and an average of 9.0 tackles per game.

Fourteen other Oklahoma players received honorable mention honors.

Oklahoma State RB Ollie Gordon was named Offensive Player of the Year, DL T’Vondre Sweat of Texas was Defensive Player of the Year and Mike Gundy of Oklahoma State was named Coach of the Year.

The Sooners have placed at least four players on the All-Big 12 First Team in 21 of 24 seasons since 2000 and has had at least one player earn all-conference honors since 1926 (96 consecutive years).
