Oklahoma football: Sooners pick up O-line commitment for 2024

Oklahoma football recruiting on Saturday earned a 2024 commitment from three-star, in-state offensive lineman Josh Aisosa.

The 6-foot, 3-inch, 305-pound Aisosa is the third offensive lineman commitment in the Sooners’ 2024 class and the second player from Edmond Santa Fe High School to commit to OU in this cycle. Bergin Kysar, a defensive lineman and high school teammate of Aisosa’s committed to the Sooners on Wednesday. Kysar is expected to be a preferred walk-on to the program.

Aisosa is rated as a three-star prospect, the No. 12 player in the state of Oklahoma and the No. 103 offensive lineman in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports. He is the third player from the Sooner State to commit to OU for 2024.

He is a two-sport athlete who also excels in wrestling and shows the kind of physicality that offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh looks for in his offensive linemen.

Aisosa chose Oklahoma over offers from Iowa State, UNLV, the University of Texas-San Antonio and others. He becomes the 19th scholarship -payer to commit to the Sooners’ 2024 class, which also includes a couple of preferred walk-ons.

OU insiders who work as recruiting analysts for a couple of the major recruiting services caution not to be misled by Aisosa’s three-star rating. He is a very talented player, they say, who could easily be upgraded with a strong senior high school season.

Aisosa had planned to announce his commitment a week later but decided not to wait an extra week.

The next big recruiting announcement of interest to Oklahoma fans will come on Thursday (Aug. 10), when Williams Nwaneri, a five-star defensive lineman and the No. 1-rated prospect at that position in the 2024 class, is expected to declare his college choice, which is expected to be OU.
