With the start of the 2023-24 college basketball season drawing closer, Porter Moser has added his first commitment for the Oklahoma basketball 2024 class.

Dayton Forsythe, a 6-foot, 2-inch guard from McLoud, Oklahoma (near Oklahoma City), has announced his commitment to stay home and play basketball for Moser at Oklahoma. This is a big get for Moser and the Sooners with Forsythe being the No. 1-rated player for 2024 in the Sooner State.

His junior year in the 2022-23 program, Forsythe led the Dale High School Pirates to an undefeated season and the 2A state championship.

In addition to Oklahoma, Forsythe had offers from Oklahoma State, Villanova and others, but he has always dreamed of playing at Oklahoma. He has been in love with Sooner basketball and has attended OU basketball games at the Lloyd Noble Center since an early age.

“It’s been something I’ve dreamed of doing since I was a little kid,” he told staff writer Justin Martinez of The Oklahoman. “I’m glad, I know, 100 percent, that I made the right decision for me…It was a no-brainer.”

From the sound of things, it seems Forsythe wants to be at Oklahoma for the long haul. “We really looked for somewhere he can call home for four or five years,” said his father, Josh Forsythe.

In other developments in the men’s Oklahoma program, the Sooners recently added graduate transfer Maks Klanjscek to the 2023-24 roster.

Klanjscek becomes the seventh player added to the roster for this coming season from the transfer portal. For the second consecutive season, Moser has had to turn heavily to the transfer portal to replenish a depleted roster due to transfers and graduation.

Klanjscek is a 6-foot, 5-inch guard who comes to the Sooners from Houston Christian (formerly Houston Baptist). He has moved around a lot, spending just one season in Houston. The native of Slovenia began his college career at Kansas City. He transferred to Salt Lake Community College for his sophomore season and then to Maine before moving on to Houston Christian for his fourth season.

He averaged 15.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists starting in 32 games for Houston Christian last season.
