The Bear is legendary for many reasons. He was the hard-nosed coach of the Aggie Junction Boys. He won several titles at Bama. And most of all, he wore that cool hat.

In all seriousness, Bear Bryant is one of the greatest college football coaches the sport will ever see. During his head coaching career, The Bear went 323-85-17. He won 14 SEC championships and 6 National titles during his time in Alabama. The Bear has a 20-12 bowl record and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1986.

Sports Illustrated came out with their All-Century Team, and who was their head coach… it was Paul “Bear” Bryant.

Bear Bryant holds legendary status among college football fans, regardless of their personal fan affiliation. What he accomplished at Alabama was remarkable and almost unmatchable. Keyword… almost.
