Heupel was the catalyst of the Oklahoma football program’s rebirth. The lefty was one of Bob Stoops first recruits, and the model of efficiency that earned the 2000 National Championship. When Heupel left Norman following the 2000 season he held nearly every Sooner passing record there was.

Heupel ended his career with an All American honor, an Archie Griffin Award, a Walter Camp Award, and an AP Player of the year honor. He finished second to Chris Weinke for the 2000 Heisman trophy award as well.

Now, Heupel is the head coach for the Tennessee Volunteers, who are reemerging as a power in the SEC.
