With the 27th pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select 1st team All-Big 12 offensive tackle Anton Harrison.

Coming in almost exactly where we predicted, Anton Harrison didn’t have to wait long to hear his named called by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in Thursday night’s first round of the NFL Draft.

Harrison, a 3 year Sooner starter, is headed to block for the 1st overall pick from the 2021 NFL Draft, quarterback Trevor Lawrence in Duval County, Florida.

Harrison will fit in perfectly in Jacksonville. Currently starting Jaguar left tackle Cam Robinson faces a multi-game suspension for violating the NFL’s drug policy. He was already one of the league’s 6th lowest-rated pass blockers. Harrison is projected to be a day-one starter in Jacksonville, providing protection for the Jag’s franchise quarterback. The Jags are a pass-heavy offense, and Harrison has been one of the NCAA’s top-rated pass protectors over the last three seasons.

Another critical feature Harrison brings to Jacksonville is his versatility. I could see Harrison being a plug-and-play starter at 4 of the offensive line’s 5 spots (any but center). Harrison is athletic enough to switch to the right side if/when Cam Robinson returns and gets his spot back. Harrison is athletic enough for tackle and has the textbook size of an All-Pro guard.

Sooner offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh adds to his historic reputation by seeing Harrison off to the NFL’s first round. Bedenbaugh has coached some of the NFL’s best offensive linemen and is projected to oversee the upbringing of many of the league’s future stars. They don’t call it O Line U for no reason.
