2023 NFL Draft – 2nd Round – WR Marvin Mims

The Oklahoma Sooners have seen their second player go off the board in the 2023 NFL Draft. Sooner wide receiver Marvin Mims was selected by the Denver Broncos with the final pick of the second round in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Mims brings a versatile mix of speed and route running to the Broncos organization. As a Sooner, Mims accumulated 2,398 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns. Mims received 1st-team All-Big 12 honors following his 2022 campaign.

During Mims’s time in Norman, he was seen as a leader on and off the field. Mims was an anchor for the football program during the transition from the Riley to Venables era. Mims led the Sooners’ offense in receiving yards in 2022 and was second in touchdown receptions with 6 (one shy of Brayden Willis’ 7).

Mims will enter the Broncos organization with a solid opportunity to be an early contributor to the Joe Lombardi offense. Mims, combined with Broncos 2020 first-round receiver Jerry Jeudy, will see plenty of playing time early in an offense led by future Hall of Fame quarterback Russell Wilson. I see Mims fitting in well with the Broncos’ offense, especially from the slot position. Mims’ play style, and Russell Wilson’s ability to be creative, should see Mims hauling in plenty of deep ball opportunities during the receiver’s career in Denver.

Marvin Mims is the second Sooner to be drafted in the 2023 NFL Draft behind 1st round offensive tackle, and current Jacksonville Jaguar Anton Harrison. With plenty of Sooners still on the board, I wouldn’t be changing the channel anytime soon.

Sooner Nation will miss Marvin Mims and his deep play explosiveness. More importantly, we will miss his leadership and consistent effort on the football field.
