Wide receivers recruiting update

Any conversation about a high school wide receiver in the 2024 class starts with all-world 5-star receiver Bryant Wesco of Midlothian, TX. The biggest thing I worry about with Wesco is losing him to the Olympics. This man is FAST. I’m talking about Tyreek Hill 2.0 fast. He also has some of the best route running ability in the 2024 class, combined with the best hands and any other attribute a wide receiver could have. Wesco has the Sooners at the top of his recruiting list, and the Sooners need to do everything possible to keep him there. If the Sooners could land the nation’s top receiver, their recruiting ranking would quickly surge to the top of the charts, as would their 2024 season projection. This young man, combined with Jackson Arnold or Michael Hawkins, gets statues put out on Jenkins Ave.

Zion Kearney is a big-body wide receiver from Missouri City, TX (Hightower). The composite 4-star receiver has the Sooners in his top-5, and there are rumors he’ll be in town for the Spring game. If the Sooners brought in the big receiver to the 2024 recruiting class, they would be in an excellent position offensively. The receiver also runs a 10.89 100-meter dash, which at his size… almost defies physics.

Zion Ragins is a 4-star receiver from Jones County high school in Gray, GA. The Sooners are in a tight race against Georgia for the receiver’s services. Many feel the recruitment of Ragins may be a closed book; however, the Sooners still have a chance (insert Lloyd Christmas quote…so you’re sayin there’s a chance). Ragins has elite-level speed and has impressed against the top-tier competition in Georgia. Wait to write off Ragins’ recruitment.

The final recruiting update for receivers is for Isaiah McMorris from Bellevue, Nebraska. It seemed like the receiver’s recruitment was over until he took a trip to Southern Cal a few weeks ago. The receiver is leaning towards the Sooners; however, it will be a closer race than some experts expected. McMorris was in Norman on March 30th and may be back in town for the Spring game. Look for the Sooners staff to make a strong push for a McMorris commitment; he would be a massive addition to the 2024 class.

Franklinton, LA wide receiver Kelly (KJ) Daniels committed to the Sooners on Monday evening. The Sooners just landed an absolute speed demon in Daniels. Go check out the commitment story for Daniels by Stormin’ in Norman here. One thing to keep in mind about Daniels, he’s a Louisiana native, and he doesn’t have an LSU offer yet. Keep your attention on this because I know Brian Kelly’s recruiting tactics well. I fully expect the born-again Southerner to go after Daniels now that the Sooners have earned a commitment. I doubt Daniels would flip to the Tigers; however, we all have an affinity for our home school. It would be human nature for Daniels to have some leftover loyalty to the LSU program. Not sayin… just sayin.
