Running backs recruiting update

The running back position is the most exciting update for the Soonersā€™ recruiting scope. Running backs coach Demarco Murray is quickly gaining recognition for his unique ability to recruit nationally. Figuresā€¦ heā€™s been elite at everything else heā€™s ever done. These are the backs the Sooners have their sights set on for 2024.

First up, Duncanvilleā€™s composite 4-star RBĀ Caden Durham. This young man is remarkable. It would be a shocking conclusion to us if he didnā€™t earn his much-deserved 5th star by the end of his senior campaign. Durham has the Sooners in his top 3, and many experts believe the Sooners are in the lead for the running backs services. Durham has world-class speed and a high motor. In fact, Durham may rank as the fastest player the Sooners are recruiting, along with Midlothian receiver Bryant Wesco.

Tovani MizzellĀ from Ft. Lauderdale, FL (Western) is the next featured back. Mizzell is another composite 4-star running back who has the experts believing the Sooners are in the lead. Many experts feel that Mizzellā€™s recruitment will soon end, with the Sooners being victorious. Mizzell has attended the Soonersā€™ junior day festivities and felt great about his recruitment to Oklahoma. Mizzell was committed to Georgia before attending junior day in Norman. Another elite-level speed prospect, Mizzell, could also hang in a race with Durham and Wesco. Keep your eyes open on this speedsters recruitment coming to an end soonā€¦ hopefully.

Midwest City (Carl Albert) running backĀ Xavier RobinsonĀ has us here at Storminā€™ in Norman very excited. The 6ā€² 2ā€, 220-pound RB looks and plays like a grown man. The Sooners are in the lead for the Titan RB, and they look to close the recruitment soon. Robinson would be a major steal for the in-state RBā€™s services. Robinson would serve as a considerable power addition to the Soonersā€™ offense. Weā€™re excited to monitor Robinsonā€™s senior season at Carl Albert closely. A season, we feel, will end with him earning the Oklahoma offensive player of the Year and the State of Oklahomaā€™s Gatorade Player of the Year award. If you live in the State of Oklahoma and are looking for something to do on a Friday night during football season, go watch this man play.

The final featured running back to receive an update is Missouri City, TX (Hightower) RBĀ Jeremy Payne. Payne is a composite 4-star back with a ton of explosiveness, similar to former RB Eric Gray. Payne has the Sooners as his reported leader and could be ending his recruitment soon. Payne would be a welcome addition to the offense because of his speed and versatility out of the backfield. Payne received first-team all-district selection as a junior, and in Texas 6A footballā€¦ thatā€™s saying something. Keep your eyes open for Jeremy Payne.
