Defensive Backs

Lewisville, TX, safety Jaydan Hardy is one of the Sooners’ top defensive recruits. Hardy ranks as a composite 4-star recruit and the number 30 ranked player in the State of Texas, according to 247Sports. Hardy has the Sooners as his top school thus far in his commitment, and many recruiting experts feel he is all but signed. Hardy will make another excellent addition to the Sooner’s deep defensive back room. Be on the lookout for a Jaydan Hardy commitment soon.

Composite 5-star cornerback Kobe Black is another recruit the Sooners are doing well in 2023. Black has the Sooners in his top-5 list of schools. Black has been relatively tight-lipped with his recruiting. However, many feel the Sooners are doing well in recruiting the corner. If Black ends his recruitment early, that would be a big surprise to many. Be prepared for the long haul when looking at Kobe Black’s recruitment. Defenders with this kid’s potential are worth the wait.

Westmoore’s Mykel Patterson-McDonald is a favorite of mine. This kid can flat-out play. The 3-star Oklahoman would be an under-the-radar addition for the Sooners. I’ve been watching this young man for a while, and he’s way better than a 3-star rating. If that rating keeps the wolves at bay, that works for me. Mykel’s speed is elite, and his big play ability jumps off the tape. I look for to Mykel committing to the Sooners soon… hopefully.

Isaiah Thomas is the last featured recruit in this update. The composite 3-star safety from Clearwater, FL, has the Sooners in his top-4 alongside in-state competition Florida, Miami, and Florida State. Thomas would be a great addition to the Sooners; however, the Sooners may be engaged in an uphill battle for Thomas’s services, especially compared to the Miami Hurricanes.
