A strong second half overcame a slow start and for the fourth straight game Ana Llanusa led the way in an 89-79 Oklahoma basketball win over Big 12 foe Texas Tech.

The 19th-ranked Lady Sooners moved to 3-1 in the Big 12 and 13-2 overall and completed the Oklahoma basketball road sweep of Texas Tech. The OU men defeated the Red Raiders 68-63 last Saturday.

Llanusa led the Sooners with 20 points, her fourth consecutive start reaching the 20-point level. Skylar Vann had 19 off the bench and Madi Williams added 13 as five different OU players scored in double digits.

Oklahoma outscored the Lady Red Raiders (13-4, 1-3) 51-37 in the second half after trailing by four, 42-38 at halftime. Seventeen of Vann’s 19 points came after halftime.

Next up for the OU women’s team is a game Saturday at Lloyd Noble Center against No. 23 Kansas (12-3, 2-2). The tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. immediately following the men’s game against West Virginia.

Three key takeaways from the Oklahoma basketball win

  • The Sooners shot 48 percent for the game and 42 of their 89 points at the basket in the paint area.
  • Madi Williams distributed four of Oklahoma’s season-high 27 assists in the win over Texas Tech. The senior forward becomes the first OU player to eclipse 2,000 points, 850 rebounds and 300 assists in her career.
  • Oklahoma dominated the rebound battle pulling down 47 boards, 19 of them of the offensive backboards, to just 21 and 5 for the Lady Red Raiders.
