After suffering a 46-point meltdown loss against Utah in mid-November, the women’s Oklahoma basketball team dropped out of the Associated Press Top 25.
This week the Sooners (7-1) returned to the AP national rankings at No. 23. OU has been ranked in the Coaches Poll all season, this week at No. 20.
Oklahoma began the 2022-23 season at No. 15 in the AP preseason poll and 16th in the Coaches Poll.
The Sooners are one of four Big 12 teams ranked in the top 25 this week. Iowa State is the highest-ranked out of the Big 12 women’s teams. The 6-1 Cyclones are in the No. 8 spot in the Coaches Poll this week and 10th in the AP poll.
The Baylor women are ranked 19th in both polls, and Kansas State is 24th in the AP poll and 25th in the Coaches Poll. Texas dropped out of both polls this week after losing to South Florida.
Iowa State, Baylor, Texas and OU were the only Big 12 teams to end the season a year ago ranked in the top 25 of both major polls.
South Carolina is a unanimous No. 1 in both polls this week, receiving every first-place vote. Stanford in No. 2 in both polls, followed by Ohio State and Indiana, Nos. 3 and 4, depending on which poll you follow.
The Pac-12 and ACC both have five teams ranked in the AP Top 25 this week. The Big 12 and Big 10 have four each.
The OU women are in action just twice over the next two weeks, on consecutive Sundays. Both games are at Lloyd Noble Center against Robert Morris on Dec. 11 and Southern on Dec. 18.
