Three Oklahoma football players have been named the 2022 All-Big 12 First Team and Sooner quarterback Dillon Gabriel is the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.

The Big 12 announced is 2022 football postseason awards on Wednesday, which were determined by a vote of the conference coaches. You can view all of the Big 12 postseason selections by clicking here.

In addition to Gabriel, who was also voted the Big 12 Preseason Newcomer of the Year, Oklahoma wide receiver Marvin Mims, offensive tackle Anton Harrison and punter Michael Turk were named to the All-Big 12 First Team. That represented an improvement over the preseason All-Big 12 Team that included only one Oklahoma Sooner (Turk).

Three Oklahoma players were second-team All-Big 12 selections: running back Eric Gray, tight end Brayden Willis and defensive lineman Ethan Downs.

Seven other Sooners received Honorable Mentions selections: defensive backs Billy Bowman, C.J. Coldon and Justin Broiles, offensive linemen Chris Murray and Andrew Raym and linebackers DaShaun White, Danny Stutsman and David Ugwoegbu.

Gabriel, a native of the Hawaiian Islands, led the Big 12 in passing yards per game (265.9) and ranked second in the conference in total offense (293.2 ypg). He accounted for 24 passing touchdowns and ran for five more.

The redshirt-junior Oklahoma quarterback is the fifth Sooner player to be named Bib 12 Newcomer of the Year and the first since Jalen Hurts in 2019.

Turk was a first-team selection last season and Mims was a second-team honoree. This is the first All-Big 12 honor for Gray, Willis and Downs.

Oklahoma players have received 48 individual Big 12 postseason awards, the most in the 27-year history of the conference. Kansas State is second with 38 individual awards.
